Community Connection at Lāhainā Brewing Company: Creating Spaces to Gather & Grow

Gathering is the heartbeat of life in Hawaiʻi. Whether it’s sharing a meal, celebrating milestones, or simply talking story, connection keeps our communities resilient. At Lāhainā Brewing Company, we design our spaces and our culture with this in mind.

Our Community Connection Pillar reflects a commitment to creating environments where people feel welcome, valued, and part of something bigger.

Spaces Designed for Gathering & Talking Story

Community flourishes when people have a place to come together. Our taprooms and restaurants are intentionally built to be open, warm, and easy to settle into—places where families, friends, visitors, and neighbors can connect.

From live music to casual evenings with friends, we want our spaces to feel like a home base for the community.

Regular Events That Bring People Together

Music, art, and storytelling are the heartbeat of this island. We intentionally make space for local performers at our locations, offering a place where artists can share their talents with the community.

Live music and performances help turn our taprooms into gathering spaces, creating moments where guests connect, laugh, and experience the culture that makes Maui special.

We host ongoing activities such as trivia nights, live music, seasonal gatherings, and community meetings that invite connection and celebration. Each event is a chance to laugh, learn, and build new relationships.

Purpose-Driven Event Partnerships

Our spaces also serve as platforms for local nonprofits and purpose-driven groups. These gatherings share knowledge, inspire action, and strengthen ties within our community.

Examples of some recent events we’ve been proud to support include:

  • Breaches & Brews with Whale Trust — exploring ocean conservation and marine research
  • Kupuna Talk Story with Mālama Kula — sharing wisdom, history, and intergenerational knowledge

Conversations like these deepen our understanding of Maui and help to ignite and strengthen our connections with each other.

Supporting Community Groups & Partnerships

Relationships are central to Maui’s strength. We value the groups who bring people together, uplift local traditions, and foster healthy, active lifestyles.

One of these partnerships is with the Maui Paddling Hui, an organization we proudly sponsor. Their dedication to culture, sportsmanship, and ocean connection reflects the same values that guide our work.

Encouraging Our Staff to Engage in Community Work

Our team members bring heart to everything we do, and we encourage them to share their knowledge with the wider community. Many of them volunteer, speak at local events, or serve on boards that support Maui’s future.

Examples include:

  • Speaking engagements for organizations such as University of Hawaiʻi Maui College or Maui Economic Development Board
  • Participating in community programs and ceremonies, such as the Holomua Koʻi Awards with the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce
  • Serving on purpose-driven boards, such as the Lahaina Restoration Committee

Their involvement reflects our belief that community work is something everyone can actively contribute to, each in their own way.

Moving Forward as a Connected Community

As we continue to grow across the island, our intention is to stay grounded in the people and relationships that make Maui home. We look forward to welcoming more gatherings, supporting new conversations, and strengthening the connections that keep our island resilient.

Because when we talk story, come together, and share our strengths, Maui becomes even stronger.
